“Being able to have Sky the Limit Fund’s (STLF) support in order to go to wilderness seriously changed my life. I was not only able to improve my own mental health, but also create a stronger connection with my dad and step-family, and now even in darker moments, I feel more confident in myself and more capable to get through life’s challenges. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to go to wilderness, and I feel so lucky for the positive and life-changing experience.”

MESSAGE FROM
MARY DAVIDSON,
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I love Autumn. It is a gentle reminder that life is always changing. While some changes may be more difficult to endure, we can always count on new growth.
It is safe to say that our world and our industry is in a period of change and challenges, and there is new growth everywhere. So many of our program partners have launched new services and programs to better serve their adolescents, young adults and families. I am always so amazed by the compassion and creativity that exists within these organizations and the way they embrace these opportunities.
Sky’s the Limit Fund (STLF) is facing challenges as well. The economic crisis has impacted our families in need of financial assistance more than ever. An unfortunate trend is happening. Families that have been awarded financial assistance from STLF must walk away from treatment because they still can’t afford it. This is heartbreaking for all of us at STLF. Families can see the pathway to hope that heals and are not able to access it. Together, with your support, we can change this.
As we head into the Holidays, I ask each of you to support Sky’s the Limit Fund, to provide these families the gift of wilderness therapy during these challenging times.
Warmly,
Mary
RIVER TO SEA $17,555
In August, two world-class ultra cyclists, Paul Webb and Mark Gibson, cycled from Bend, OR to the Golden Gate Bridge in 5 days, to raise awareness of the mental health challenges facing our youth and to support Sky’s the Limit Fund. Together, with Paul’s wife, Talley Webb, founder of Journey to Better Therapeutic Consulting, they raised $17,555. We are deeply grateful for their continued support. This is the Webb’s third fundraiser, and we are sincerely moved by their passion and dedication to make a difference.
A huge THANK YOU to the “village” who supported their journey with your many generous donations and cycling alongside Paul and Mark for inspiration and encouragement.
OBH WILDERNESS THERAPY SYPOSIUM
Mary Davidson (Executive Director), Mackenzie Keefe (Young Adult Coach) and Robin Wolthausen (Family Coach) headed to Park City, Utah in August for the OBH’s National Wilderness Therapy Symposium. Mackenzie and Michael Gass held a very informative workshop, “Tending the Fire: How to keep the flame alive after wilderness therapy”. The symposium was an opportunity to learn and connect with the community as well as a time to enjoy a beautiful sunrise hike.
FALL GIVING CAMPAIGN
November- December
As we face new challenges, it is very clear that the impact of mental health remains significant. We continue to see a steady flow of applications for financial support with situations more desperate than we have seen before.
The more support we can provide families in need, the better. Please help us continue to break the barrier of cost to wilderness therapy and donate to our Annual Giving Campaign and on the global day of giving, #GivingTuesday on November 29th.
STLF SPEAKER SERIES PODCAST
The STLF Speaker Series podcast is an educational resource for parents seeking information about topics close to wilderness therapy. The series features conversations with our host, Brenda Zane, and guest speakers who are experts in the field of outdoor behavioral healthcare as well as parents sharing their experience and informative messages.
Coming soon…. A panel discussion with our STLF Family Coaches and Young Adult Coach about the transition to home.
