“Thank you.. my son is doing good. He is moving into the SLE this Thursday and looking for a job. He will enroll in the adult school and take his GED in October and a class at CSM this summer. Ok now for the graduation. It was beautiful and awesome. We had such a great experience together. It was a lovefest for my son and I. We were able to restore our relationship where we both feel very close again. There are no words to express my complete and utter gratitude to you, your organization and Open Sky. I am eternally grateful. The whole thought makes me cry again. Thank you.”

“I was introduced to Sky’s the Limit Fund (STLF) about a week ago as I desperately sought funding opportunities to send my adolescent son to a wilderness therapy program. Pursuing this option was a long shot for me as a single mom currently in grad school and working in a volunteer position. However, I found the team at STLF to be empathetic, supportive, and driven by a genuine desire to help. The entire process from applying for a financial assistance to learning that the STLF board had decided to award a scholarship to enable me to pursue the wilderness therapy option for my son took four days. My interaction with STLF has been as much about their financial generosity as it has been about their compassion, efficiency, and being a valuable resource for families such as mine who find themselves in a sudden crisis and are at a loss for how to affect an intervention for their loved ones. Even after the financial assistance was awarded, my STLF liaisons have continued to remain involved in the progress my son is making in his program. Thank you, STLF, for enabling me to rescue my son from a potentially destructive future.”
“I just thought you might like to know that your investment in Antonio is definitely paying off… Each and every day we thank our lucky stars that you and Lani believed in Antonio and our family and decided to help us send Antonio to Open Sky. Your organization definitely helped Antonio change his life for the better! You gave him an opportunity and he is running with it.”
“The Sky’s the Limit Fund has been an invaluable and indispensable resource for our family. In conjunction with Open Sky Wilderness Therapy, they have worked with us to obtain the financial assistance we needed to help our teenager. Much deserved credit to Rochelle Bochner for her tireless work and ongoing commitment to helping families like us. Thank you Sky’s The Limit!”
“Thank you so much for everything that you have done to help us. I was actually going to call a few days after we talked because I felt so supported by you the night when you called. We are all on the rollercoaster portion of this experience now, so talking to other parents has been one of the most helpful components. Of course, we will do anything and everything we can to support this cause. We feel already like it has saved us on so many levels. Most of all it is giving us hope and the resources to move ahead for Camille.”
“I am awed by the generosity shown to me by complete strangers. Without the help from Sky’s the Limit Fund I would never have been able to attend Open Sky Wilderness Therapy. I am beginning my journey towards a new life and can’t wait to see what is on the other side of the mountain. Stay tuned to hear about my successes. Thank you Sky’s the Limit for believing in me!”
“I hope that in these sentences you will hear the voice of a mother who was crying for help, I don’t even know how I came upon this difficult journey, to this place where I am not able to help my baby any more, where she cannot hear me! When I realized that my daughter was having a problem with substance abuse, with stealing, and lying, I was scared, I did not know what to do. Then I found SKY’S THE LIMIT FUND. When I spoke with a representative of Sky’s the Limit Fund, I felt tremendous hope. It is not only that they wanted to help me financially but also I felt that they understood me. It is comforting to speak with that someone has been in my shoes. It was helpful when she told tell me that I was making the right decision and doing what was in the best interest of my daughter and that my daughter would receive the right kind of help that she so desperately needed. STLF followed my daughter through the entire experience, contacting me regularly, making sure that we were all fine! I cannot thank you enough, thank you for what you are doing, thank you for your big heart, and thank you for all support. I am thankful for such an organization that is able to help me and my family and many other children in need.”
“If only I had adequate words to express my deepest appreciation for what Sky’s the Limit has done for my sixteen year old daughter and our entire family. Because of their generous donation, my child will fortunately experience the healing powers of the wilderness, an opportunity that would have been lost had Sky’s The Limit not stepped in to help us both financially and emotionally. The staff has been so caring and supportive and for the first time in a very long time, I have hope Loren will beat this addiction, pick up and continue where life had stopped for her. I look forward to sharing her success story very shortly. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are all my guardian angels.”

“What a stroke of good fortune it was to find the Sky’s the Limit Fund. Rochelle and Lani of The Sky’s the Limit Fund understood our predicament. They sympathized with our pain and calmed our fears. They gave us hope. Not only did Sky’s the Limit give us a grant, they arranged for the wilderness program to do the same. Through their influence, the wilderness program guaranteed a loan for us. And after months of emotional terror about our son’s mental state and future prospects, we were finally able to enroll him at Open Sky, one of the premier wilderness therapy programs in the country, based in Durango, Colorado. Sky’s the Limit turned a heartbreaking dilemma for our family, into a path to treatment. Without Sky’s the Limit Fund, our family couldn’t have enrolled him in the program. Through STLF, our son has a second chance on life. Through STLF, we are getting our son and our family back. How can we ever thank you for that?”

“For me, it feels good to speak to people who have direct contact with Zach. Because of you and Sky’s the Limit Fund, we were able to send Zach to Open Sky Wilderness, which is going to be a life changing situation for him. I can’t thank you enough for helping Ira and I with your generous grant toward Zach getting healthy. I am looking so forward to seeing his transformation. Knowing as parents, we are giving him a chance to live a more authentic life, (which he so deeply deserve’s), is a gift of life for him. We could not have done this without your support. I hope one day I will be able to help spread the word of the Sky’s the Limit Funding. So I can help you and your organization to continue to grow and make wonderful changes in people’s lives.”

“Again, your generous help is a blessing, and it is what made this all happen for my son. My cousin, who dropped James off at the program commented: “It’s like I dropped a little caterpillar off at the gate.. and in eight weeks, a beautiful butterfly will emerge.” I will love you always for this, Sky’s the Limit Fund, and you’ll be hearing from me again very soon.”
“Because of you our son will live to see his 21st birthday. We are, and will always will be, happily and enthusiastically, at STLF’s beck and call! Whatever we can do to help.”
“I am lost for words to describe the gratitude I feel for the kindness and generosity my family has received from your organization. So I come from the heart with this message of thanks to all people involved in supporting and operating STLF. The grant you provided for my son to attend Pacific Quest Wilderness Therapy, took his/our desperate situation and turned it into a most hopeful and optimistic one. I am forever grateful for your help.”
“When I reached out to STLF, I was met with compassion and comradery. They were there for me. They were there for my son. Our situation was handled with empathy and immediacy. I was able to speak with others who had felt as lost and hopeless as I did in that moment, and the emotional support that I received provided much strength to my soul. I knew in that moment that I was not alone, and I felt a bright and warm beacon of hope. Thank you STLF for embracing me. Connecting with you has been like a miracle.”
“Today my son is completing his first week at Pacific Quest. He is adjusting well, and I am feeling much relief to know that he is safe, working on his personal growth, reshaping his future. STLF, you have invested in my son, and I am eternally thankful. He will give back to the world one day, as he has many gifts to offer, and your investment in his life and his future will never be forgotten.”

“I can’t begin to express my gratitude to you and your organization. Two weeks ago, I drove my teenage daughter to a wilderness program in Utah. Without the grant provided by Sky’s the Limit Fund, this would have been impossible — not just unlikely, but impossible. The opportunity you gave us may well have saved her life.
I was facing a complete crisis several weeks ago. My daughter was engaging in extreme self-destructive behavior and then ran away to another city. By a miracle she was located and I brought her back home, but I urgently needed to get her into a different environment. Wilderness therapy offered the best – and I believe the only
– chance to put her on a different path. Because of my financial situation, however, and the expense of wilderness programs, I had absolutely no ability to provide her with the help she needed and deserved. The programs I contacted directly were unwilling to offer assistance. I kept running into walls.
I then became aware of your organization, and what happened next was truly remarkable. Within 72 hours of my first call to you, I was notified that we had been approved for the largest grant your fund had ever made. Your responsiveness and quick turnaround made all the difference: Time was not on my side after bringing my daughter home due to the risk that she would run again. Your organization understood this, and applying for the grant – from completing paperwork to speaking with Board members – was fast and seamless. It was nothing short of amazing how quickly you and your Board mobilized and came through for us.
I am a single dad, raising a child on my own, and have always done things by myself. I was unaccustomed to asking anyone for help and really didn’t know what to expect. You made me feel comfortable and treated me with dignity and respect, which I really appreciated. I also want to acknowledge you and others in your organization for the moral support. Lynn Carteris and Liz Verea were incredibly kind and understanding during the interview and I received emails and calls afterwards as well just to check on me and my daughter.
As a parent in the middle of a crisis, I needed to ask for help from people I’d never met or even heard of before. Your response was extraordinary. Instead of a mountain of documents and humiliating questions and being left to my own devices, you essentially took me by the hand and, with amazing speed and sensitivity, helped me navigate through the process and then provided resources and support that allowed me to give my child a fighting chance. I had no idea that I would be embraced in this way. Sky’s the Limit Fund was generous beyond words. I will never be able to thank you enough for coming through when no one else would. Thank you again for everything.”
– From a father whose 14 year old daughter was a grant recipient
“Before Outback our family was on a fast downward spiral. It seemed as if the only communication, between us & our son was anger-filled yelling. There were many days my husband & I were emotionally exhausted from dealing with the constant defiance, verbal abuse of his younger sister, lying, & battle over homework/grades. We spent countless hours searching the web for resources that may be available to help our family. We could not find any resources that didn’t cost a lot of money, money we did NOT have. It seemed we were at a point of no return & were losing hope there would be any chance to save our family. We needed an immediate intervention. Enter Sky’s the Limit Fund! With SLF’s help we were able to send our son to Outback Wilderness Therapy program. The experience allowed our whole family to get the necessary help we needed to rebuild our family. We know there is NO miracle pill, but wilderness therapy has given us the tools to handle life’s bumps! Thank you SLF!”
